Overview
Ubeeqo is a French carsharing company founded in 2008 by Benoît Chatelier and Alexandre Crosby under the name Carbox. Initially, it provided corporate carsharing solutions, helping companies replace their service vehicles with shared vehicles deployed at headquarters and industrial sites. In January 2015, Europcar Group acquired a 76% stake in the company, and in December 2015, Ubeeqo launched its own public carsharing service, starting in Paris and London and later expanding to Brussels, Berlin, and Hamburg. The company grew through acquisitions, including Bluemove in Spain in June 2016 and GuidaMi in Italy later that year. In May 2019, following the closure of Autolib', Ubeeqo became the leader in carsharing in Paris by winning 851 parking spaces out of 1,213 offered by the city. In July 2022, the French data protection authority CNIL fined Ubeeqo €175,000 for disproportionate geolocation of users. On 18 June 2024, Ubeeqo was rebranded as Europcar On Demand. The company offers a range of services through its app, including carsharing (Ubeeqo Street), taxi and private hire services, and vehicle rental from Europcar and InterRent agencies. It operates in several European countries and is part of the Europcar Group.
