Overview

Tyumen Regional News Agency, operating under the brand Tyumenskaya liniya ("Tyumen Line"), is a Russian regional news agency based in Tyumen. It is part of the State Autonomous Institution of Tyumen Oblast "TRIA TyumenMedia" (ГАУ ТО «ТРИА «ТюменьМедиа»), which also includes the regional media portal Tyumen Media. The agency is supervised by the Tyumen Oblast Department of Information Policy and functions as one of the region's most authoritative electronic media outlets. The agency traces its institutional roots to a 1998 gubernatorial decree creating the state unitary enterprise Tyumen Regional News Agency (TRIA). The Tyumenskaya liniya news agency itself was established on 4 November 1999, with V. S. Gorbachev and V. Yu. Knyazev among its founders. Its website launched on 5 October 2001, and in 2003 the newspaper Nashe Vremya was attached to the agency before later leaving the holding. A federal media registration certificate was issued to Tyumenskaya liniya on 25 January 2010; a newer registration (IA No. FS 77-86509) was issued on 11 December 2023 by Roskomnadzor. The agency reports in real time on events across Tyumen Oblast, including the Yamalo-Nenets and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrugs. It maintains a correspondent network across the region and operates joint press centers with FederalPress and Interfax, as well as its own press centers in Tyumen, Tobolsk and Ishim. Its editorial output includes a news feed, video news, online broadcasts and press-conference coverage. The site's average daily audience has been reported at more than 3,000 visitors. Tyumenskaya liniya has been recognized in regional media rankings, including first place among the most cited media in Tyumen Oblast in a 2012 Medialogia rating, and it has been listed among the top 15 most cited regional media. It won the "Information Agency of the Year" category at the Tyumen Press 2005 festival. The agency's chief editor is Elena V. Streltsova, and the general director of TRIA is Sergei Perestoronin.

History

The institutional predecessor of the Tyumen Regional News Agency was created by order of the governor of Tyumen Oblast, L. Yu. Roketsky, on 14 October 1998 (decree No. 780-r), establishing the state unitary enterprise Tyumen Regional News Agency (TRIA). Its first general director was V. S. Gorbachev, and its first project was the newspaper Tyumenskaya Pravda Segodnya. The Tyumenskaya liniya news agency was founded a year later, on 4 November 1999, with V. S. Gorbachev and V. Yu. Knyazev among those at its origins. According to Gorbachev, the initial idea was for the news agency to exist alongside Tyumenskaya Pravda Segodnya, but the projects later developed separately. In 2000, TRIA's portfolio of publications was expanded with the youth magazine Dozhd. The Tyumenskaya liniya website appeared on 5 October 2001. In 2003, the newspaper Nashe Vremya was attached to the agency, though it later left the holding. On 25 January 2010, the Tyumen Oblast office of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media issued Tyumenskaya liniya a media registration certificate. A later registration, IA No. FS 77-86509, was issued on 11 December 2023 by Roskomnadzor. Over the years the agency built a correspondent network across the region and established joint press centers with FederalPress and Interfax, as well as its own press centers in Tyumen, Tobolsk and Ishim. It reports in real time on events in Tyumen Oblast, including the Yamalo-Nenets and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrugs, and cooperates with federal and local government bodies and major enterprises of Western Siberia. Its average daily site audience has been reported at more than 3,000 visitors. In rankings, the agency took first place among the most cited media in Tyumen Oblast in a 2012 Medialogia rating, and it has been listed among the top 15 most cited regional media. It was a laureate of the Tyumen Press 2005 festival in the "Information Agency of the Year" category. Today TRIA operates under the Tyumen Oblast Department of Information Policy, and its structure includes the Tyumenskaya liniya news agency and the Tyumen Media portal for the region's media. The general director of TRIA is Sergei Perestoronin, and the chief editor of Tyumenskaya liniya is Elena V. Streltsova.
