Overview
Twój Blues is a Polish quarterly magazine dedicated entirely to blues music, published by Agencja Koncertowo-Wydawnicza Delta from Chorzów. It is described as the only nationwide magazine in Poland wholly devoted to blues, and it has been present on the publishing market since 2000. The magazine is a laureate of the Keeping the Blues Alive award (2011), the most prestigious distinction in the international blues community, granted by the American Blues Foundation. In 2016 the European Blues Union, based in Brussels, awarded the magazine the "Blues Behind The Scenes" prize. The first issue of Twój Blues appeared in June 2000. Until the end of 2002 the publisher was PUMiR E-media sp. z o.o.; from 2003 the publisher has been Agencja Koncertowo-Wydawnicza Delta. From the beginning of the magazine's existence its editor-in-chief has been Andrzej Matysik. The author of the logo and graphic design is Roman Kalarus. The average print run is 1,300 copies (as of 2020). The magazine covers blues music broadly, including news, interviews, reviews and event coverage. Its website highlights Polish blues events such as Polski Dzień Bluesa in Białystok, Rzeszów Breakout Days 2026, a single by Joanna Kołaczkowska with the band Blues Flowers, a new album by Joanna Pilarska titled "Who's That Girl", and calls for submissions for the European Blues Challenge 2027. A recurring feature is the annual Blues Top poll, announced in the last issue of each year, in which readers choose the best in more than a dozen categories (personality, band, female vocalist, male vocalist, discovery, harmonica player, guitarist, pianist, instrumentalist, album, event, photographer and journalist). Winners of the Blues Top poll take part in a special Gala Blues Top concert held every April in Chorzów as part of the Bluestracje festival, and since 2007 also in Zakopane as part of the United European Jazz Festival – Zakopiańska Wiosna Jazzowa. All laureates receive Bluesy-Kalarusy awards, specially designed graphics by Roman Kalarus. Winners are also invited to special concerts at festivals such as Olsztyńskie Noce Bluesowe and Front Porch Blues, also known as Lauba Pełno Bluesa. Twój Blues is a niche but internationally recognized publication. History
Twój Blues was founded in 2000 as a quarterly magazine dedicated to blues music. The first issue appeared in June 2000. Initially, until the end of 2002, it was published by PUMiR E-media sp. z o.o. From 2003, the publisher became Agencja Koncertowo-Wydawnicza Delta from Chorzów. Andrzej Matysik has served as editor-in-chief from the beginning. On 21 September 2013, in Eutin, Germany, editor-in-chief Andrzej Matysik accepted another prestigious honor – the German Blues Award International, an annual award given by the organization Blues Baltica u.v. to outstanding figures of the world blues scene. In 2016, the European Blues Union in Brussels awarded the magazine the "Blues Behind The Scenes" prize. The magazine has maintained an average print run of about 1,300 copies (as of 2020). It organizes the annual Blues Top readers' poll, with winners honored at Gala Blues Top concerts in Chorzów (as part of the Bluestracje festival) and, since 2007, in Zakopane (as part of the United European Jazz Festival – Zakopiańska Wiosna Jazzowa).
