Overview
TV9 Telemaremma is an Italian regional television broadcaster headquartered in Grosseto, Tuscany, at via Aurelia Nord. It is the only television station serving the province of Grosseto since its competitor Teletirreno ceased all activity in 2011. The station traces its origins to Telemaremma, founded on 28 January 1977 in Grosseto by a group of enthusiasts who formed the first newsroom of the fledgling network: Luciano Paciotti, Marino Martinelli, Silvano Benassi, Giulio Santinami, Alessandro Petri, Roberto Papini, Mauro Pallari, Maria Rosa Biondi, Roberto Nucci and Augusto Marcelli. In 1981 the station was acquired by Natale Lorenzini (1916–2007) and his business partner Roberto Colombini, who expanded the signal's reach beyond the province for the first time and structured the schedules more organically and completely, with new programmes and segments. The company that held Telemaremma's shares, Lorenzini Costruzioni, was declared bankrupt in December 1995, beginning a troubled period that led to Natale Lorenzini's conviction for fraudulent bankruptcy and the auctioning of the television station. Telemaremma was purchased for 4 billion lire by D'Errico Costruzioni, owned by the Follonica entrepreneur Andrea D'Errico, in October 1999. In December, Igor Righetti was appointed general manager, while on 20 January the role of sole administrator was entrusted to Stefano D'Errico, replacing Achille Legge. Shortly afterwards, Angela D'Errico succeeded Righetti as director and the station's name was changed to TV9; after a few years the old name was added alongside the new one, becoming TV9 Telemaremma. In December 2019 the broadcaster left its historic headquarters in viale Monterosa and moved its studios to a new building in via Aurelia Nord, in the city's industrial zone. The station broadcasts its signal across four regions: Tuscany, Umbria, Liguria and Lazio; only the first two regions enjoy full signal coverage, with Lazio limited to the province of Viterbo and Civitavecchia. Its programming includes the Tg9 newscast, sports programmes, current affairs and local news, entertainment, events, and weather lessons by Roberto Madrigali. The station also operates a website, mobile-accessible streaming, and social media channels, and invites viewers to submit news via WhatsApp.
