Overview
12 TV Parma is an Italian generalist regional television broadcaster serving the province of Parma in Emilia-Romagna. It is part of the media network of Radio TV Parma S.r.l., whose registered office is in Parma at via Mantova 68, with a secondary office at viale Fratti 20/D. The station's programming is built around local news, sport, politics and community affairs, and it is distributed primarily on a provincial scale. The current 12 TV Parma brand was created in 2018, when 12 Teleducato and the historic TV Parma merged their operations; the new identity launched on 12 May of that year, and the Teleducato brand disappeared from the airwaves. The roots of the operation, however, go back to the summer of 1978, when the first local news bulletin about the city was broadcast from studios in Vicolo Guasti di Santa Cecilia using a single-tube camera and a white wall as a backdrop. That first newscast was signed by director Nuccio Acquarone. Over the following decades the station moved through several studios and editorial leaderships, gradually becoming the leading television news source in Parma. Directors after Acquarone included Pier Paolo Mendogni, Ivo Allodi, Aldo Curti, Maurizio Schiaretti and Gabriele Balestrazzi, who led Tv Parma for more than ten years and helped establish it as the city's primary television information outlet. The station later relocated to Via Aurelio Saffi and eventually to its current Via Mantova facilities, which are equipped with modern television studios. Today 12 TV Parma produces a daily newscast, 12 TG Parma, along with TGprovincia and a schedule of thematic programmes covering sport, politics, health, food and local culture. Its programming includes Bar Sport, Parma Europa, Calcio e Calcio, Bordo Campo, CheckUp - Salute e Benessere, Cuochi ai Fornelli, Calcio Mercato, Vox Populi Gialloblù, Agricoltura e dintorni and Nima Show Live. The station positions itself as a hyper-local broadcaster, closely tied to the sensitivities and culture of the people of Parma.
History
The history of 12 TV Parma begins in the summer of 1978, when the first local television news bulletin about the city of Parma was broadcast from studios in Vicolo Guasti di Santa Cecilia. The operation was modest: a single-tube camera and a white wall served as the backdrop. The first newscast was signed by director Nuccio Acquarone, marking the birth of televised local information in Parma. The years that followed were a period of experimentation and growth. The station studied methods to improve quality, to root the television in its territory and to expand its pool of collaborators. Several prominent local journalists took turns at the helm: after Nuccio Acquarone came Pier Paolo Mendogni, Ivo Allodi, Aldo Curti and Maurizio Schiaretti, before Gabriele Balestrazzi took over. Balestrazzi led Tv Parma for more than ten years, setting in motion what would become the city's primary television news source. As the years passed, the studios became increasingly advanced. The station moved from Guasti di Santa Cecilia to Via Aurelio Saffi, a significant change. From its debut through the early 1990s, many names contributed to this growth, including Carlo Drapkind, Francesco Silva, Mauro Coruzzi, Corrado Abbati, Elisabetta Zanlari, Guido Orlandini, Claudia Magnani and Annamaria Bianchi, among others. A quarter of a century was spent telling the stories of the city, always close to the sensibilities and culture of the people of Parma. In early 2018, 12 Teleducato and the historic TV Parma decided to join forces. On 12 May 2018, 12 TV Parma was born, and the Teleducato brand disappeared from the airwaves. The new entity operates as part of the media network of Radio TV Parma S.r.l., with its registered office in Parma at via Mantova 68 and a secondary office at viale Fratti 20/D. Today the station broadcasts from modern studios in Via Mantova, equipped to meet the needs of a contemporary local broadcaster, and continues to produce a daily newscast and a range of thematic programmes for the province of Parma.
