Overview

TV Alepe is a Brazilian public television broadcaster belonging to the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco (Assembleia Legislativa de Pernambuco). It operates as part of the Rede Legislativa de Rádio e TV, a national network created by the Chamber of Deputies in 2012 to encourage state and municipal legislatures to establish their own open, free-to-air radio and television stations. The network allows the Chamber of Deputies and the Federal Senate to share their channels with partners, dividing costs and responsibilities so that all participants can broadcast plenary sessions, committee work, public hearings, and public-interest programs directly and transparently. TV Alepe broadcasts on digital subchannel 10.2 (28 UHF digital) and produces the program Em Discussão, which is transmitted by TV Pernambuco. Historically, for several years TV Nova Nordeste aired the plenary meetings live. The channel's digital signal has undergone a series of tests and relaunches: it entered testing on 27 August 2014 on channel 61 UHF as part of the legislative MUX, alongside TV Câmara (28.1) and TV Senado (28.4); further tests occurred on 19–20 April 2015 before the channels went off air; the signal was reactivated on 9 June 2017 on channel 28; and on 29 August 2020 it began transmitting on subchannel 10.2. On 3 July 2019 it also began retransmitting Canal Futura. As a legislative broadcaster, TV Alepe's mission is to provide citizens with broad access to the information and work of the legislative branch and to promote popular participation in the democratic process. Its programming is non-partisan and focused on transparency, accessibility, and public service, in line with the principles of the Chamber of Deputies portal. The channel maintains a presence on social media, including Facebook, X, and Instagram.

History

TV Alepe is the television channel of the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco, created within the framework of the Rede Legislativa de Rádio e TV. That national network was established by the Chamber of Deputies in 2012 to encourage state and municipal legislative houses to set up their own open, free-to-air radio and television stations, sharing channels and dividing costs and responsibilities with the Chamber and the Federal Senate. The goal was to universalize access to legislative programming, allowing all partners to broadcast plenary sessions, committee work, public hearings, and public-interest programs directly and transparently. For several years, TV Nova Nordeste transmitted the plenary meetings of the Legislative Assembly of Pernambuco live. The channel also produces the program Em Discussão, which is carried by TV Pernambuco. The digital signal of TV Alepe has a history of tests and relaunches. On 27 August 2014, the legislative MUX signal entered testing on channel 61 UHF. All channels were in standard definition (SD): TV Câmara (28.1), TV Alepe (28.2), and TV Senado (28.4). At that time, TV Alepe and TV Câmara do Recife displayed only color bars. Between 19 and 20 April 2015, new tests were conducted, after which the channels went off the air. On 9 June 2017, the signal of the broadcasters was turned on again, now occupying channel 28 (previously channel 61). TV Alepe and TV Câmara do Recife again displayed only color bars. On 29 June 2017, a technical cooperation agreement was signed to ensure that TV Pernambuco could begin digital broadcasting before the analog shutdown deadline, using TV Alepe's channel 28.2. On 25 July 2017, the signal on channel 28.2 was replaced by TV Pernambuco, an affiliate of TV Brasil. On 3 July 2019, TV Alepe began retransmitting Canal Futura. On 29 August 2020, it began transmitting on subchannel 10.2. The channel maintains an official page and social media presence on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
