Overview

Tube Records is an Italian independent record label founded in 1997 in Gornate Olona, in the province of Varese. The label was created by Dario Guglielmetti together with partners Lorenzo and Luca, with whom he ran a live music venue in the city. The name was inspired by the London Underground. The goal was to build an underground label capable of reaching listeners throughout Italy. In its first year, Tube Records released its debut album, 'Cosa facciamo?' by the band Porno Riviste. The label grew slowly in its early years, issuing the second Bassistinti album 'Bassin' Core' in 1998, followed in 1999 by Porno Riviste's 'Fino alla fine' and Skruigners' 'Grazie di tutto'. That same year saw the label's first 7-inch release, a split shared by Porno Riviste and PAY. In subsequent years Tube Records expanded significantly, signing many punk rock and hardcore punk bands, both contemporary acts such as Gerson, Bambole di pezza, Clark Nova, Jolaurlo and Stiliti, and historic scene bands like Rappresaglia and Klasse Kriminale. In 2007 the label, together with Il Manifesto, released a compilation produced by Massimo Barletta, with proceeds donated to the committee that kept attention on the case of Silvia Baraldini; participating artists included Ivana Gatti & Gianni Maroccolo, Jovine, Modena City Ramblers, Gang, Bandabardò, Assalti Frontali, Africa Unite, Yo Yo Mundi, Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, Punkreas, Jolaurlo and Klasse Kriminale. After several years of inactivity, the label was reborn in 2021 as Tube Music, releasing a vinyl reissue (in collaboration with La Scena Dischi) of 'Cosa facciamo?', the first album by both Porno Riviste and the label itself.
