Overview

Truck Tech Group Pty Ltd, trading as TRUCK TECH, is an Australian independent provider of heavy vehicle fleet maintenance, repairs and fleet maintenance compliance support. The company services trucks, trailers and buses, and describes itself as Australia's leading independent provider in this field, servicing over 7,000 trucks, trailers and buses annually. Its customer base centres on large fleets, typically operators running 50 or more heavy vehicles, across sectors such as freight and logistics, food, waste and public transport. TRUCK TECH was founded in 2007 in Sydney by Barry and Catherine Saad. Barry, a mechanic, began by servicing breakdowns from the back of his ute, while Catherine handled parts pick-up, invoicing and administration. Barry's brother Mark, also a mechanic, joined in 2010, and the brothers grew the business from a small garage behind the house to larger premises and then to a workshop with several bays. Today the company employs over 140 people, about two-thirds of whom are qualified technicians and mechanics. The business operates four state-of-the-art workshops near Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Newcastle, and runs more than 50 service vehicles and technicians providing breakdown and on-site services along Australia's eastern seaboard. Its service model combines fixed workshops with mobile field service and on-site teams, offering vehicle pick-up and delivery, 24/7 roadside breakdown support, and dual day/night shifts in its workshops. A flagship offering is Maintenance360™, a tailored, data-driven outsourced fleet maintenance model. Under a Maintenance360™ service agreement, customers choose a service level and monthly fee, and TRUCK TECH onboards each vehicle, assesses its service history and builds a proactive maintenance plan intended to keep fleets compliant, optimised and earning while reducing unplanned downtime and cost blowouts. The company positions itself as a proactive maintenance partner rather than a reactive repair provider. TRUCK TECH has been certified as a Great Place to Work® and was shortlisted as a finalist for two 2025 Automotive Industry Awards: Best Large Automotive Business – Metropolitan Victoria and Employer of the Year. It remains a privately held Australian company.

History

TRUCK TECH was founded in 2007 in Sydney by Barry and Catherine Saad. Barry, a mechanic, started the business by servicing breakdowns from the back of his ute, while Catherine handled the rest of the operation — picking up parts, invoicing customers and paying the bills. In 2010, Barry's brother Mark, also a mechanic, joined the company. The two brothers opened a small garage behind the house, and as the business grew they moved to a large shed and then to a single workshop with a few bays. From these modest beginnings, TRUCK TECH expanded into a comprehensive heavy vehicle fleet maintenance business. The company grew its workforce to over 140 employees, roughly two-thirds of whom are highly qualified technicians and mechanics. It established four state-of-the-art workshops near Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Newcastle, and built a mobile capability of more than 50 service vehicles and technicians providing breakdown and on-site services along the eastern seaboard. A defining development in the company's service model was Maintenance360™, a total outsourced fleet maintenance solution for major fleets in the heavy vehicle industry. Developed based on decades of heavy vehicle fleet management experience, Maintenance360™ combines technology with TRUCK TECH's expertise to offer proactive, data-driven maintenance under a service agreement with a chosen service level and monthly fee. Each partnership begins with a detailed onboarding process led by TRUCK TECH's Fleet Service team, starting with a desktop fleet audit that reviews service history, service sheets, asset types and maintenance schedules, followed by technician inspections of each vehicle. TRUCK TECH today describes itself as Australia's leading independent provider of heavy vehicle fleet maintenance, servicing over 7,000 trucks, trailers and buses annually. Its customers are typically fleets of 50 or more heavy vehicles in the freight and logistics, food, waste and public transport sectors. The company has been certified as a Great Place to Work® and was shortlisted as a finalist for two 2025 Automotive Industry Awards: Best Large Automotive Business – Metropolitan Victoria and Employer of the Year.
