The Trifelsblick-Hütte (also called Hütte Trifelsblick or Gleisweiler Hütte) is a managed hiking hut in the Palatinate Forest (Pfälzerwald) in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It stands at 537 m above sea level on the southern slope of the Teufelsberg, near the village of Gleisweiler in the Südliche Weinstraße district. The hut is operated by the Gleisweiler branch (Ortsgruppe) of the Pfälzerwald-Verein, a regional hiking and heritage association. The hut offers views toward the Wasgau, the northern Black Forest, the Vosges, and on clear days as far as Strasbourg Cathedral. It is part of the Pfälzerwaldhütten-Kultur, which was added to the German UNESCO intangible cultural heritage list in 2021. The hut was built in 1970 by the newly re-founded Gleisweiler branch with financial support from the municipality of Gleisweiler. It is a destination for hikers, accessible via forest paths from Gleisweiler and Burrweiler, and is near other huts of the Pfälzerwald-Verein such as the St.-Anna-Hütte, the Landauer Hütte and the Waldhaus Drei Buchen.
History
The Trifelsblick-Hütte was built in 1970 by the Gleisweiler branch of the Pfälzerwald-Verein, which had been re-founded in 1969. The construction was carried out as self-help (Eigenleistung) with financial support from the municipality of Gleisweiler. The hut is located on the southern slope of the Teufelsberg at 537 m above sea level, within the Palatinate Forest Nature Park and the Palatinate Forest-Vosges du Nord Biosphere Reserve. It has been managed by the Gleisweiler branch since its construction. In 2021, the hut, along with other huts of the Pfälzerwald-Verein, became part of the intangible cultural heritage of Germany under the entry "Pfälzerwaldhütten-Kultur" by the German UNESCO Commission. The hut continues to operate on weekends and holidays, and on special pilgrimage days of the St. Anna Chapel.
