History
The company traces its origins to 1860 when one of the first Italian local public transport lines was established in Trieste, then part of the Austrian Littoral. In 1876, the first horse-drawn tramway line was inaugurated. In 1921, the Azienda comunale tranvie municipali was founded, which in 1934 became ACEGAT and introduced the first trolleybuses. In 1977, ACEGAT's transport assets merged into ACT, along with the activities of the Azienda comunale navigazione autoservizi of Muggia. ACT's activities were transferred in 2001 to Trieste Trasporti.
