Tregothnan Tea is a brand of tea grown in England on the Tregothnan Estate. The first tea was grown in the UK in 1999, and the first major crop for Britain's first home-grown tea was yielded in 2005. The estate has over 26 miles of tea bushes thriving in a unique microclimate.

History

The first tea was grown in the UK in 1999 to put the 'English into English Tea' and the most British tea in history was first sold in 2005. The first tea gardens in the UK yielded the first major crop for Britain's first home-grown tea in 2005. Tregothnan is an expert Camellia grower and pioneered Camellia into Great Britain over two centuries ago. In the mid-nineties, gardeners at Tregothnan suspected that tea might grow successfully in Tregothnan's unique environment. After research and a Nuffield Scholarship by Head Gardener Jonathon Jones, the first British tea bushes were planted in 1999. After some false starts, the first 300 bushes took root in the Kitchen Garden.
