Overview
Transportadora Associada de Gás S/A, commonly known as TAG, is a Brazilian natural gas transmission company headquartered in Rio de Janeiro. It is a closed-capital corporation (sociedade anônima de capital fechado) that owns and operates gas pipelines across Brazil's North, Northeast and Southeast regions. TAG describes itself as the holder of the country's most extensive gas transmission pipeline network, with more than 4,500 km of pipelines crossing nearly 200 municipalities in 10 Brazilian states. Roughly 3,700 km lie along Brazil's coastal region — in the states of Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, Bahia, Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro — while more than 800 km are in Amazonas. The company's ownership is split equally between ENGIE, with 50%, and La Caisse (CDPQ), the Canadian institutional investor group, with the other 50%. According to Portuguese Wikipedia, the shareholding is held through Engie Brasil (17.5%) and Engie S.A. (32.5%) on the ENGIE side, and CDPQ with 50%. TAG's infrastructure includes 15 operational bases, one interconnection point with NTS – Nova Transportadora do Sudeste, two bidirectional entry and exit points, 14 entry points (three of which have LNG terminals connected) and 91 exit points. The energy it transports is supplied to 10 gas distribution companies, serving thermoelectric plants, refineries, fertilizer plants, industries and other segments. TAG offers a portfolio of logistics solutions for gas transportation, with different contracting modalities and terms that provide access to the integrated system, enabling new supply alternatives, delivery security and greater flexibility. Its commercial offerings include transportation products and services, a balancing platform, capacity offers, competitive processes and the TAG Viewer asset navigation tool. The company also emphasizes environmental and social responsibility, publishing a Sustainability Report and maintaining environmental licensing for its assets. TAG was created in 2002 under the name Transportadora de Gás Campinas-Cubatão S.A. (TCC). It was renamed Transportadora Amazonense de Gás S.A. (TAG) in 2004 and received its current corporate name, Transportadora Associada de Gás S.A., in 2006, when it was created to incorporate all of Gaspetro's gas transporters — Gaspetro being a subsidiary of Petrobras — into a single company. In 2019, Petrobras sold 90% of TAG's shares to a consortium formed by the Franco-Belgian ENGIE and the Canadian fund Caisse de Dépôt et Placement du Québec for R$ 33.5 billion, with Petrobras continuing to use TAG's natural gas transportation services. In 2020, Petrobras concluded the sale of its remaining 10% stake to ENGIE and CDPQ for a total of R$ 1 billion. Today TAG is one of the largest gas transporters in Brazil, alongside Transportadora Brasileira Gasoduto Bolívia-Brasil, which remains controlled by Petrobras.

In July 2019, Petrobras signed a Term of Commitment to Cessation (Termo de Compromisso de Cessação) with CADE that provided for the sale of TAG's control by 2021.
