Trans*parent

Trans*parent (registered as Transparent z. s.) is a Czech transgender and queer advocacy organization based in Prague. It was founded in the spring of 2015 by a group of trans activists who sought to create a support space and to change policies promoting transgender equality. The organization works toward understanding and acceptance of trans and non-cis persons at both the social and legislative levels. Its activities include creating safe spaces for transgender and non-cis persons to meet and share experiences, organizing support groups for adults and teenagers, and offering individual psychological, social, and legal counselling free of charge. It also raises awareness through discussions, workshops, happenings, and an online blog, and works with media and the public to build a positive, realistic, and unbiased representation of transgender persons and their lives. Trans*parent opens dialogue on current trans-related topics by organizing discussions, events, and meetings both within the community and externally, and it fosters an active and collaborative community of non-cis persons regardless of self-identification. The organization is based at Lucemburská 2434/17, 13000 Prague, where it holds regular support groups and events, including online meetings for parents of trans children and partners of trans people.

Since its founding, the organization has worked towards understanding and acceptance of trans and non-cis persons on both the social and the legislative level. It has established regular support groups for trans and non-binary people, as well as specialized groups for parents of trans children and partners of trans people, held several times a month in Prague or online. The organization also provides free individual psychological, social, and legal counselling. Through discussions, workshops, happenings, and an online blog, Trans*parent raises awareness of transgender issues and collaborates with media to build a realistic and positive image of trans persons. It continues to open dialogue on current trans-related topics and to foster an active community of non-cis persons in the Czech Republic.
