Toraya Uiro

Toraya Uiro is a Japanese confectionery company based in Ise, Mie Prefecture, that specializes in fresh uiro (seiuirō). According to its official site, it was founded in the Taishō 12th year and continues to make seiuirō by hand, valuing carefully selected ingredients and the founder's wish that the product be eaten while it is still delicious. Its standard uiro line includes nine items such as Ogura Uiro, Sakura Uiro, Kuri Uiro, Ise-cha Kuri Uiro, Matcha Uiro, Tora Uiro, Koshian Uiro, Kuro Uiro, and Shiro Uiro, alongside seasonal limited-edition uiro. The company is headed by Representative Director Tōru Yoshitaka and operates a head office and main store in Ise as well as a factory in Obata-chō, Ise.

Toraya Uiro was founded in the Taishō 12th year (1923) and has continued making seiuirō in the Ise area. The company states that it has carried on the founder's teaching to make delicious uiro using only natural ingredients and to have customers eat it while it is still delicious, and that it continues handmade production. It was incorporated in Shōwa 39 (1964). By its own account it has passed more than a hundred years since founding, and it continues to offer both standard uiro flavors and seasonal limited-edition uiro.
