Overview

tonarie Fujimino (トナリエ ふじみ野) is a shopping center located in Ureshino, Fujimino City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by ESCON Co., Ltd. (株式会社エスコン). The facility occupies the site of what was Japan's first outlet mall, Outlet Mall Rism (アウトレットモール・リズム), which opened in November 1993. After the outlet mall closed in June 2011, the property was redeveloped and reopened on June 29, 2012 as "Shopping Center Soyoka Fujimino" under the management of AEON Mall. In February 2018 the management contract with AEON Mall ended, and ESCON took over operations. On April 29, 2021, the facility was renamed "tonarie Fujimino." The center serves the local Fujimino community with a mix of daily-needs retail, food, and services. Its opening hours are generally 10:00 to 20:00, with some stores open until 21:00. Major tenants include the supermarket Lopia, Kaldi Coffee Farm, the drugstore Drug Segami, the variety store Seria, an insurance clinic, a Pola beauty shop, Nitori Deco Home, a Nichii Kids nursery school, and a Gakken classroom. The center also hosts community events and seasonal campaigns, such as the "Otonari Matsuri" festival and children's activities for kids club members. tonarie Fujimino is part of the "tonarie" shopping center brand operated by ESCON. The name change from Soyoka to tonarie reflects ESCON's ongoing management and branding of the property. The center remains an active retail destination in the Fujimino area.

History

The site of tonarie Fujimino has a history dating back to the early 1990s. On November 12, 1993, Japan's first outlet mall, Outlet Mall Rism (アウトレットモール・リズム), opened at the location in Ureshino, Fujimino City, Saitama Prefecture. It operated for nearly two decades, but as customer traffic declined, the facility closed on June 30, 2011, with the exception of the Tower Building (a medical facility), effectively ending Outlet Mall Rism as a whole. In 2012, the property was redeveloped. On February 22, 2012, it was announced that AEON Mall would manage and operate the facility, which would be renewed as "Shopping Center Soyoka Fujimino" (ショッピングセンター ソヨカふじみ野). The new shopping center opened on June 29, 2012. AEON Mall continued to manage the property until February 20, 2018, when its management and operation contract ended. The following day, February 21, 2018, management and operation transferred to Nihon ESCON (now ESCON). On April 29, 2021, the facility's name was changed from "Soyoka Fujimino" to "tonarie Fujimino." The renaming aligned the center with ESCON's "tonarie" shopping center brand. The center continues to operate under ESCON's management, serving the Fujimino community with a range of retail, food, and service tenants.
