Overview
Tokuriki Seiko Co., Ltd. (徳力精工株式会社) is a Japanese manufacturing company headquartered in Fuchu, Tokyo, with its main production site, the Tochigi Plant, in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture. Founded in April 1939 in Chofu, Tokyo, the company originally manufactured aircraft parts for the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy. After the end of World War II, it became a certified factory of the Ministry of Telecommunications (the predecessor of the NTT Group) in 1946 and shifted into the production of information and communication equipment such as telephone exchange systems. Over the following decades it expanded into printed wiring boards, data terminals, and other telecommunications-related devices. In 1975 Tokuriki Seiko began manufacturing arcade game machines, and in 1976 it started producing table-type arcade cabinets, which became a mainstay of its business in the late 1970s. Today the company operates three main business lines: information and communication equipment (outdoor waterproof enclosures, cabinets, racks, and power distribution units), industrial equipment (energy-saving devices, outdoor equipment, facility equipment, and various control devices), and amusement equipment (commercial arcade machines). It also undertakes commissioned manufacturing and maintenance of railway infrastructure equipment, and has more recently moved into railway equipment refurbishment. The company is known for its integrated production system covering design, machining, sheet-metal working, welding, assembly, and quality assurance, supported by in-house 3D design and design verification. Its Tochigi Plant is large enough to handle the manufacture of large-scale equipment. In the arcade sector, Tokuriki Seiko both develops its own products and performs OEM production for major game companies including Bandai Namco Amusement and Taito. In April 2023 it released "TAKUYA," a new table-type arcade game cabinet limited to 40 units, featuring recyclable materials, swappable arcade game boards, and connectivity for home game consoles. In December 2022 it launched "PRIVASEELD," a shield for highway buses. Tokuriki Seiko remains a private company with capital of 24 million yen and 134 employees as of March 2026. Its representative directors are Chairman Soichiro Nakamura and President Tomohiro Asano. The company's long-standing management philosophy is "customer first," and it positions itself as a "best partner" for each customer, aiming to respond flexibly to diversifying and increasingly sophisticated needs.
History
Tokuriki Seiko was founded in April 1939 in Chofu, Tokyo, for the purpose of manufacturing aircraft parts for the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy, supplying various aviation arsenals. Production ceased at the end of World War II. In 1946 the company became a certified factory of the Ministry of Telecommunications (now the NTT Group) and began transactions with it. In 1948 it manufactured welded jacks, integrated lamp sockets, and universal keys. In 1958 it began manufacturing magneto telephone exchange systems. In 1960 it produced selectors, shelves, and selector banks for A-type automatic exchanges. In 1963 it manufactured JKL panels and fuse panels for crossbar exchanges. In 1967 it began manufacturing printed wiring boards. In 1969 it manufactured toll exchange equipment, coin-tone train telephone equipment, outside-plant control console equipment, and data terminal equipment. From 1975 onward it produced CX/DX signal equipment, SR/SRM repeaters, centralized monitoring racks, auxiliary equipment racks, multi-terminal pseudo-test equipment, and notification switching equipment. In 1975 it also began manufacturing amusement equipment at its Yokohama (Totsuka) plant. From 1986 it produced telegraph reception desks, reception operation units for electronic number guidance boards, melody announcement devices, crime-prevention notification devices, TZ-801 and TZ-802 car telephone mounting accessories, and automatic call transfer devices. In April 1989 the Chofu Plant was relocated to Imaichi City (now Nikko City), Tochigi Prefecture, and the Imaichi Plant (now the Tochigi Plant) was opened. It manufactured special printed boards for automated MDF, waiting-call count control devices, recording add-on devices, typewriter adapter concentrators, quay telephone switching devices, and C400 abbreviated dial conversion devices, among others. According to Wikipedia, the company began manufacturing arcade game machines in 1975, and in 1976 started producing table-type cabinets, which became a mainstay in the late 1970s. Its information and communication equipment business has been a certified factory of the NTT Group since the era of the Ministry of Telecommunications and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Public Corporation. In its arcade game machine business, in addition to in-house development, it has received production consignments from companies such as Bandai Namco Amusement and Taito. In 2005 it began OEM production of arcade game machines. In 2010 it moved its head office from Chofu City to Fuchu, Tokyo. In December 2022 it launched "PRIVASEELD," a shield for highway buses. In April 2023 it released "TAKUYA," a new table-type arcade game cabinet, limited to 40 units; TAKUYA retains the table-type cabinet form while adopting recyclable materials and allowing arcade game board replacement and connection to home game consoles. The company operates its head office in Fuchu, Tokyo; the Tochigi Plant in Nikko, Tochigi; and the Yokosuka Plant in Yokosuka, Kanagawa.
