History
PT Tira Austenite Tbk was established in 1974 as a subsidiary of PT Tigaraksa, which held 50% of the shares, with the remaining 50% held by Mr. Johnny Santoso. Its core business was acting as a distributor, representative and official sole agent for high-quality European machinery and technical products. Over the years, the company grew and diversified into manufacturing, the gas industry and the foundry sector. On 26 April 1996, TIRA undertook business diversification. On 4 April 1997, it established PT Mitra Guna Gas, a subsidiary engaged in the distribution of industrial and medical gases in cylinders, which at the time acted as exclusive distributor for PT Aneka Gas Industri. In 2003, TIRA decided to make industrial gases a strategic business unit; the activities of PT Mitra Guna Gas were acquired by PT Multi Guna Gas and eventually became the Industrial Gas Division, forming alliances with PT Air Product Indonesia and PT Linde Indonesia (formerly PT BOC Gases Indonesia). On 2 August 2017, TIRA's subsidiary PT Alpha Austenite signed a joint venture agreement with PT Stahlindo Engineering to form PT Tira Stahlindo Indonesia, based in Bogor, with shareholding of PT Alpha Austenite (60%) and PT Stahlindo Engineering (40%). This joint venture operates in ferrous foundry, complementing PT Alpha Austenite which had been in non-ferrous foundry for 45 years. The company is listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange under the ticker TIRA. It continues to operate in specialty steel, industrial gases and manufacturing, with a broad marketing network across Indonesia.
