Overview

The Tilisunahütte (also written Tilisuna-Hütte) is a mountain hut of the Austrian Alpine Club (Österreichischer Alpenverein), Vorarlberg section, located in the upper Gampadelstal valley near the Tilisunasee in the Montafon region of Vorarlberg, Austria. It sits at an elevation of 2,211 metres above sea level, south of Tschagguns and northeast of the Sulzfluh, offering panoramic views over the Montafon valley. The hut lies in one of the most beautiful marmot areas and on the geological boundary between limestone and primary rock, with a distinctive alpine flora and views toward the Lechquellengebirge and Verwall ranges. The hut provides 35 beds and 105 mattress places, and is staffed during the summer season from mid-June to mid-October. For the 2026 summer season, operations run from 12 June to 4 October 2026, with the last overnight stay on 3 October 2026. Reservations are handled through the HRS system of the alpine associations. The hut offers room categories including 4-, 5-, 6- and 7-bed rooms as well as 10-, 12- and 13-person mattress dormitories, coin-operated showers (EUR 1.00 coins), washrooms with warm water, modern WC facilities, a drying room, mobile phone reception and free Wi-Fi. Despite the 90% occupancy rule, the hut cannot guarantee a sleeping place without a reservation. In winter, the hut maintains a winter room. The usage concept was changed and the premises divided: an emergency room is unlocked and freely accessible with 8 sleeping places, light and heating via coin meter (2 € = 4 hours of electricity); guests should bring sufficient 2-€ coins. The winter room with 8 sleeping places, lounge area, cooking and heating facilities is locked and bookable through the office of the Alpine Club Vorarlberg (phone +43 5552 62639, office@alpenverein-vlbg.at).
