Overview
Ticketcorner is a Swiss ticketing company headquartered in Wallisellen in the canton of Zurich. Founded in 1987 as a marketing instrument of the Swiss Bank Corporation, it has grown into the Swiss market leader in ticketing, selling more than ten million tickets annually for roughly 15,000 events. Its scope covers entertainment, culture and sport, and it also operates a ski-ticketing offering for around 70 ski resorts. Tickets are distributed through a website, a mobile app, a call centre and around 1,300 advance-sales outlets across Switzerland. Beyond pure ticketing, Ticketcorner operates its own media platforms, including the print magazine event., digital channels, a blog and social media with its own content. The operating company Ticketcorner AG is a 100% subsidiary of Ticketcorner Holding AG, which is owned 50/50 by the German CTS Eventim AG & Co. KGaA and the Swiss media group Ringier AG. Chief Executive Officer is Oliver Niedermann; the management team also includes Urs Wyss (CSO), Evi Lehmann-Prieler (CFO) and Pascal Zürcher (CMO). The company has a long history of consolidation and ownership change. In 1999 Ticketcorner, Ticketline, Ticket4you and Ticketphone were merged into Ticketcorner AG. In 2001 the Swiss technology group Kudelski took over the company, and it expanded into Germany and later Austria. In 2006 Kudelski sold a majority stake to a consortium of Capvis, management and Andy Rihs. In February 2010 CTS Eventim announced the full acquisition of Ticketcorner Holding AG for 65 million Swiss francs, and all ticketing activities were bundled into a joint venture with Ringier created in December 2009. A proposed merger with Starticket of TX Group was prohibited by the competition commission. Ticketcorner has also been the subject of media criticism over its ticket fees, and in 2015 it adjusted its pricing practice following a directive from the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) requiring unavoidable fees to be included in the ticket price from the outset. Its event. magazine, launched in print in 2016, moved to an online-only format in 2024 after 126 print issues.
