In 2013 the company introduced a collective global leadership structure after Mather's departure. Guo Xiao, who had joined Thoughtworks China as a developer in 1999, became chief executive and president in 2015. Ownership changed in 2017 when British private-equity firm Apax Partners acquired Thoughtworks for a reported $785 million. Singham left the company. Thoughtworks continued its international expansion and broadened its offering from agile software delivery into enterprise modernization, cloud platforms, data, artificial intelligence, and digital product development. The company also developed work in public-sector and healthcare contexts, including a 2021 collaboration with the US Department of Veterans Affairs on VANotify, a centralized mechanism for delivering updates. Thoughtworks pursued acquisitions to add specialist capabilities. Gemini Solutions, a Romanian software-development consultancy, was acquired in January 2021. Fourkind, a Finland-based machine-learning and data-science consultancy, followed in February 2021. Connected, a Canadian product-development company, was acquired in April 2022.
