Overview

Thon Senter Kanebogen is a shopping centre located in the Kanebogen district of Harstad in Northern Norway. It opened in 1985 as Kanebogen senter and was at that time the largest shopping centre in the region and the first of its kind in the area. The centre was originally planned with a second construction phase that would have included a cinema, service buildings, retail and a hotel, but that phase was never realised. During the 1990s large parts of the centre were rebuilt, including sealing off parts of its glass roof. Between 2016 and 2017 the centre was expanded and today covers an area of 30,000 square metres with around 60 shops. The centre has also served other functions: after Fredly chapel burned down in 1984, the congregation held services in the centre for several years until Kanebogen church was completed in 1999, and Høgskolen i Harstad (Harstad University College) also had premises in the centre. In autumn 2018 the shopping centre was named 'Shopping Centre of the Year'. It was previously branded AMFI Kanebogen and was renamed Thon Senter Kanebogen in March 2026. The centre is part of the Thon Senter portfolio and its website lists 53 stores across two floors, including Vitusapotek, Apotek 1, Dressmann, Jack & Jones, Intersport, H&M, Søstrene Grene, Kremmerhuset, Telenorbutikken, Nikita Hair, Big Bite, Sport Outlet, Bjørklund, Decades, Rustikk Steinovnsbakeri and Best Kids. Practical services include gift cards, a shopping app and a customer club.
