This Charming Man Records

This Charming Man Records (often abbreviated TCM) is a German independent record label founded in 2011 by Christian Weinrich. Named after the Smiths song "This Charming Man", the label is based in Münster and operates out of the infrastructure of the record shop and mail-order company Green Hell Records, where Weinrich works in purchasing. Two of his bosses at Green Hell are also partners in This Charming Man Records, allowing the label to share resources and distribution channels. The label's first release was by the American band Black Sleep of Kali, but subsequent releases largely came from Weinrich's personal network. Early releases included records by Blckwvs and Noem. The label's fifth release, the debut album by Kadavar, significantly raised its profile. Since then, TCM has become known for releasing stoner rock, punk, and indie rock, with notable acts including Die Nerven, Fjørt, Space Chaser, and Mountain Witch. Bands are typically signed through demo submissions or recommendations from other groups. Over the years, This Charming Man Records has built a diverse catalogue spanning stoner rock, punk, hardcore, and indie, with releases from Kadavar, Die Nerven, The Tidal Sleep, Nothing, The Moth, Space Chaser, Centuries, The Lost Rivers, Freiburg, Messer, Mountain Witch, Night Shirts, Heat, Warm Graves, See Through Dresses, Bask, Demon Head, Sex Jams, Hey Ruin, Oracles, Insanity Alert, Ånd, Clowns, Kosmonovski, Toxic Shock, Wolf Mountains, Euternase, Hysterese, Pripjat, Caffeine, and Karies. The label remains active, with recent releases such as Karies' "Tagträume an der Schaummaschine" in 2023. This Charming Man Records is a private, independent label with no parent company. It continues to operate from Münster, Germany, and maintains a presence through its website, Discogs, and SoundCloud.

This Charming Man Records was founded in 2011 by Christian Weinrich, named after the Smiths song "This Charming Man". Weinrich had been active in various bands since the mid-1990s, which allowed him to build a network of musicians. The label was founded after the dissolution of his last band. Weinrich works in purchasing for the record shop and mail-order company Green Hell Records, and his two bosses are also partners in This Charming Man Records. This arrangement allows him to use Green Hell Records' infrastructure for his own label. The first release on the label was by the American band Black Sleep of Kali. The second release was by Blckwvs, followed by one from Noem. Since the fifth release, the debut album by Kadavar, the label's profile rose increasingly. Bands are usually signed through submitted demo recordings or through recommendations from other groups. Besides Kadavar, Die Nerven, Fjørt, Space Chaser, and Mountain Witch are among the label's best-known groups. The label's catalogue includes releases from 2011 to 2023, covering stoner rock, punk, hardcore, and indie. Notable releases include Kadavar's self-titled debut (2011), Die Nerven's "Fluidum" (2012), The Tidal Sleep's self-titled album (2012), Nothing's "Embrace the Hatred" (2012), Space Chaser's "Decapitron" EP (2013), Mountain Witch's "Cold River" (2013), Demon Head's "Ride the Wilderness" (2015), Insanity Alert's "Moshburger" (2016), and Karies' "Tagträume an der Schaummaschine" (2023). The label remains active and continues to release music from its base in Münster, Germany.
