Overview
Thiokol was an American chemical and aerospace company founded in 1929, known for producing synthetic rubber and solid rocket propellants. Its products were used in Space Shuttle solid rocket boosters. In 1982 it merged with Morton to form Morton Thiokol, and in 1989 it was spun off; the Thiokol part was eventually acquired and renamed Orbital ATK (now Northrop Grumman Innovation Systems).
