Theologica Xaveriana

Theologica Xaveriana is a Colombian academic journal of theology published by the Facultad de Teología (Faculty of Theology) of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá. It is an open-access serial publication that has circulated without interruption since 1951, making it one of the longest-running theological journals in Latin America. Until 1975 it appeared under the title Ecclesiastica Xaveriana; from that year onward it has been known as Theologica Xaveriana. The journal is published semiannually and serves as the organ of the university's Faculty of Theology. The journal publishes original research articles, reflection and review articles, documents, and book reviews that reflect current theological work. Its stated mission is to promote the exploration of horizons of liberation and human fulfillment, to foster open interdisciplinary, interreligious, and intercultural dialogue, and thereby to serve the theological community, the Church, and society. Its target readership includes theologians, researchers, teachers, university students, and all who contribute to or are interested in the development and plurality of theological knowledge. Articles are accepted in Spanish, English, Portuguese, French, and Italian. Theologica Xaveriana covers the fundamental areas of theological knowledge, including systematic theology, fundamental theology, biblical theology, and pastoral theology, as well as work whose content and approaches are pertinent to theology. It is indexed in bibliographic databases and indexes such as Latindex, Dialnet, SciELO, Redalyc, and Scopus, among others, and holds a B category in Publindex. The journal maintains an editorial committee based at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Carrera 5 No. 39-00, Edificio Pedro Arrupe (94), in Bogotá. It operates under the university's data protection policies in accordance with Colombian Law 1581 of 2012. Its ISSNs are 2011-219X (online) and 0120-3649 (print).

Theologica Xaveriana was founded in 1951 as a theology journal of the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. In its first stage it was published under the name Ecclesiastica Xaveriana and was directed first by Guillermo González Quintana and later by Alberto Arenas. It has been published without interruption since its appearance in 1951. In 1975 the journal adopted its current title, Theologica Xaveriana, and it continues to serve as the organ of the university's Faculty of Theology. From its beginnings the journal has disseminated reflection and research carried out within and outside the Faculty, reflecting current theological work. Its scope has included systematic theology, fundamental theology, biblical theology, and pastoral theology. Over the decades it has become a reference publication for Latin American theology, indexed in bibliographic databases and indexes such as Latindex, Dialnet, SciELO, Redalyc, and Scopus, among others, and rated Category B in Publindex. The journal is published semiannually and maintains an open-access policy. It accepts articles in Spanish, English, Portuguese, French, and Italian. Its editorial mission emphasizes scientific rigor, respect for difference, free expression of ideas, and service to the theological community, the Church, and society. The journal is based at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Facultad de Teología, Carrera 5 No. 39-00, Edificio Pedro Arrupe (94), Bogotá, and its editorial committee can be contacted through the university.
