Overview

The Israel Association of United Architects (Hebrew: התאחדות האדריכלים ובוני הערים בישראל, formerly עמותת אדריכלים מאוחדים בישראל) is one of the bodies representing architects in Israel. It is a voluntary association (amuta) and a member of the Engineers and Architects Chamber in Israel, within which it represents the architectural profession. The association is currently headed by architect Orna Angel. The association was founded in 1998 by a group of architects led by architect Yitzhak Lipovetzky Lior, who at the time served as chairman of the Architects Association in the Engineers and Architects Chamber. The group decided to leave the Engineers and Architects Chamber and establish an independent architects' association. Its home is Beit HaAdrichal at 15 HaMigdalor Street in Old Jaffa. Membership is subject to payment of dues, and most members are veteran architects. The association's activities include organizing and initiating architectural competitions together with various funds and local authorities; operating the gallery at Beit HaAdrichal, one of the few galleries in Israel focused on presenting architecture and architectural phenomena from both representative and critical perspectives; organizing and participating in conferences on planning and construction; publishing the professional journal 'Perspectiva'; running the 'Architour' series of architectural-planning tours led mainly by architects; awarding the 'Yakir HaAguda' (Association's Distinguished Member) honor each year on Architects Day; and granting and partnering in various architecture prizes, including the Azrieli Prize for an outstanding graduation project in cooperation with the Azrieli Foundation, the Atias Prize for young architects, and participation in the Rechter Prize through the board of trustees. The association's website serves as a hub for news, publications, events, elections to the national committee and audit committee, licensing exam updates, scholarships for architecture students, and professional courses such as a five-session practical AI course for architects covering agent building, concept development, massing to facades, site and context work, detailed design, and work with Revit and Rhino.
