History
The Adler Institute in Israel was founded in 1963 by a group of psychologists, educators and social workers led by Prof. Rudolf Dreikurs, a student of Alfred Adler. It was the first institution in Israel in the field of parent guidance and group facilitation, and it established the first School for Parents in the country. The institute is part of a global network of Adler Institutes that began with professional communities interested in Adler's teachings in Vienna before World War I, and later in Germany, England, the United States and other countries in the 1920s and early 1930s. After Adler's death in 1937, his daughter Alexandra continued the work. In 1952, the Adler institution was re-founded as the International Association of Individual Psychology. Since then, Adlerian training and treatment institutes have been established throughout the Western world. The Israeli institute has been operating for decades, promoting positive relationships in three life circles: family, work and society. It has been holding an annual conference on Adlerian psychology since 2005. The institute was located in Herzliya until 2013, when it moved to Kfar Saba. It also has branches in Haifa, Rishon LeZion and an online branch. The institute is a non-profit association governed by a friends' assembly, a board of directors and professional management.
