Overview

Telemonzabrianza TV, commonly known as TMB TV, is an Italian community television broadcaster based in Lissone, in the Province of Monza and Brianza, Lombardy. It originated in 1987 as a volunteer initiative to inform the citizens of Lissone directly through television. In 1989 the Associazione Culturale TeleLissone, a Catholic-inspired non-profit cultural association, was formally established in Lissone, and it remains the entity behind the channel. The station initially broadcast as TeleLissone on various VHF frequencies and a channel 70, aiming to reach the densely populated Brianza area. In 2010 it rebranded as TMB TV, or Telemonzabrianza TV, and moved to digital terrestrial television. The channel produces and airs cultural and recreational programs aimed at the local Brianza audience, with a schedule dedicated to promoting the territory through coverage of local events and festivals, documentaries on the history of Brianza and its people and businesses, promotion of the third sector and non-profit world, amateur video collection, contests and short films, and institutional information from public and private bodies. Excluded from the DTT frequency reassignment rankings at the end of 2012, TMB TV expanded its reach by broadcasting on the web platform Streamit at channel 139, and later on its own web platform. It has also been visible on digital terrestrial channel 172 and, in November 2014, returned to visibility in the provinces of Varese, Como, Lecco, Sondrio, Bergamo, Monza and Brianza, Milan and Lodi through a space on the UHF 42 channel of Rete 55, a Varese-based regional broadcaster. The station is run by a new generation of the Associazione Culturale Telelissone, including technicians, professionals, operators, directors, actors and authors who volunteer their skills to produce quality programming and showcase Brianza's excellence. Viewers can interact with the newsroom at any time through the website and social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.

History

Telemonzabrianza TV traces its origins to 1987, when a small group of volunteers in Lissone began exploring the possibility of informing citizens directly through television broadcasts. The difficulties encountered led the group to seek out and involve sector technicians, who became passionate about the project and themselves became members. Months of intense activity followed, and all legal forms required by the Ministry of Communications were put in place to obtain frequency concessions. In 1989, the Associazione Culturale TeleLissone, a Catholic-inspired cultural association, was established in Lissone in Via Nobel, with its founding documents registered on 22 March of that year. The statute emphasized that the association had no profit motive. The association continues to operate constantly to respond to the many information needs tied to the territory of Brianza and the Milan area. From its beginnings, it aimed to focus attention on the particular problems of the territory, on everyday needs, on facts, events, anniversaries and popular traditions, to be a voice and a "window" for those who want to be updated on what happens in the Brianza area. Telelissone occupied several VHF frequencies and also a channel 70 to try to be seen in a densely populated area like Brianza. In 2010 it renewed itself, giving life to TMB TV, that is Telemonzabrianza TV. It is a television channel visible on digital terrestrial that produces and broadcasts cultural and recreational programs and content intended for a local audience, the Brianza one. Excluded from the rankings for the reassignment of DTT frequencies at the end of 2012, TMB TV broadcast on the web platform Streamit at channel 139, greatly expanding its coverage, which became practically universal thanks to the Internet. It currently broadcasts on the web from its own platform and is visible on digital terrestrial at channel 172. It has also rented transmission space on the multiplex of Tele Sondrio News, awaiting the activation of the systems that this network operator has been granted for Brianza. In November 2014 it also became visible again in the provinces of Varese, Como, Lecco, Sondrio, Bergamo, Monza and Brianza, Milan and Lodi with a space on the UHF 42 channel of Rete 55, a Varese-based regional broadcaster. Today TMB lives thanks to the new generation of the Associazione Culturale Telelissone, made up of a series of technicians, professionals, operators, directors, actors and authors who, firmly believing in correct information, make their skills available to create a quality product and make Brianza's excellences visible.
