Overview

Telefire (Telefire Fire & Gas Detectors Ltd.; Hebrew: טלפייר) is an Israeli private company that develops, manufactures and markets fire and gas detection systems, building management systems (BMS) and security software. Founded in 1979 by two families — the Avni family (Shlomo Avni, later his son Nir Avni) and the Brener family (Yehoshua Brener) — the company is headquartered in Petah Tikva, where its main offices, factory and central service and support center are located. It also operates a service center in Eilat. Telefire describes itself as the largest and leading company in its field in Israel. The company's core business is fire safety: certified and proven fire detection control panels, detectors and cloud-based services. Its product range includes addressable fire detection and extinguishing control panels from the 7000 series, photoelectric smoke detectors, heat detectors, smoke management systems, firefighter telephones, emergency announcement systems, regional panels, FM-200 and aerosol fire suppression solutions, fire control and command software, and a remote-control application for fire detection panels. Telefire's fire detection panels and detectors are available for both EN-54 European and UL American standards. Its addressable TFO-480A photoelectric smoke detector carries three certifications: UL (American), EN-54 (European) and SI 1220 of the Standards Institution of Israel. Beyond hardware, Telefire has expanded into integrated smart-building platforms. Its Intelligent Building Management System (IBMS) unifies fire safety, BMS and security on a single screen for building operators and central monitoring stations. The company emphasizes vendor-agnostic, open integration with third-party controllers, BMS and security devices, and offers open security software with modules including access control, CCTV, LPR, intrusion, visitor management and worker management. In 2020 it launched Telefire Connect, a cloud service suite for physical fire protection that makes fire panel data accessible to end customers and maintenance providers through the Alerto application and the SEE graphical fire command-and-control software for control rooms — positioning Telefire as the first and only company in Israel with cloud-based fire monitoring solutions at that time. Telefire also acts as the Israeli representative for international fire-suppression and safety companies such as Fike, SAFE, FIRE PRO, GreenEX, Spectronix, EATON, XTRALIS-HONEYWELL, POTTER, EVAX, PROEL s.p.a, The Fire Beam Company and Sensitron. Its execution division carries out turnkey fire detection projects and maintenance services in residential towers, office buildings, shopping centers, industrial facilities, medical centers and unique structures. The company is a member of the global NFPA, the Israeli association for fire protection (NFPA-IL) and the Manufacturers Association of Israel. In 2017 the Tene Fund acquired control of the company, while the founding Avni and Brener families remained partners. In 2021 Sagi Rubin became CEO and Yehoshua Brener became president. Telefire employs about 120 people in Petah Tikva and additionally employs 40 people with disabilities through a production line at the "Fund for Rehabilitation" plant in southern Israel.

History

Telefire was founded in 1979 by two families: the Avni family (Shlomo Avni, later succeeded by his son Nir Avni) and the Brener family (Yehoshua Brener). Until 2019, Nir Avni and Yehoshua Brener served as joint CEOs of the company. In 2017 the Tene Fund acquired control of the company, while the Avni and Brener families remained partners to this day. In 2021, Sagi Rubin became CEO and Yehoshua Brener became president. In the 1980s, Telefire launched a smoke detector and a fire detection panel manufactured in Israel ("blue and white" production). The smoke detector evolved over generations and ultimately became established as the addressable TFO-480A smoke detector, which is installed today in most buildings and projects. This smoke detector carries three certifications: the American UL, the European EN-54, and SI 1220 of the Standards Institution of Israel. In the 1990s, Telefire introduced the GSA-1000, described as the world's first computerized regional fire detection panel with field programming capability, and the TDM-500, the first computerized Hebrew-language dialer. The successor generation to this series was the TSA series of panels, which carried global certifications and were sold widely in Israel and abroad. In the 2000s, Telefire developed and began manufacturing the addressable panel series (the 3000 series). These panels were a breakthrough because fire detection systems of previous generations could not identify where the fire was coming from, only that a fire existed in the building and in which area. The addressable 3000 systems could identify precisely where a fire broke out, down to the accuracy of a room, and thereby activate the relevant extinguishing systems. Thanks to this capability, firefighters could reach the source of the fire quickly and extinguish it before a severe disaster to human life or property occurred. The successor series to this panel series is the 7000 series, which carries three certifications (Israeli, American and European). In 2018, Telefire launched Israel's first smoke management system with the American UUKL certification. In 2020, Telefire launched Telefire Connect — the cloud services suite complementing the physical fire protection domain, which makes the information contained in the fire detection panel accessible to end customers and system maintenance providers through a first-of-its-kind application called Alerto and graphical fire command-and-control software for control rooms called SEE. This move positioned Telefire as the only and first company in Israel to have cloud-based fire monitoring solutions at that time. At the beginning of 2021, Telefire acquired Kach Bat Kol Ltd., which engages in the development and manufacture of emergency announcement systems, smoke release windows and more, alongside the company's activity in executing fire detection system installations and providing maintenance services in residential towers. Telefire is a member of the global NFPA association, the Israeli association for fire protection (NFPA-IL) and the Manufacturers Association of Israel. In addition, the company has an execution division that carries out turnkey projects of installation and service for fire detection systems in residential towers, office buildings, shopping centers, industry, medical centers, unique buildings and more. The company has a central service and support center in Petah Tikva and one in Eilat. Beyond its own manufactured products, Telefire serves as the Israeli representative of international companies in the fire suppression field such as Fike, SAFE, FIRE PRO, GreenEX, Spectronix, EATON, XTRALIS-HONEYWELL, POTTER, EVAX, PROEL s.p.a, The Fire Beam Company and Sensitron. In addition to its 120 employees in Petah Tikva, Telefire employs 40 employees with disabilities who work at the "Fund for Rehabilitation" plant in the south of the country, which maintains a production line for Telefire. Telefire has also worked for many years to promote and raise awareness of proper maintenance of fire detection systems as an important means of protection in old residential buildings.
