Overview

Tedy Productions (Tedy Yezumot VeHafakot Ltd.) is an Israeli television production and content development company founded in 1973 by Tamira and Dudu Yardeni. Its name is derived from the initials of its founders' first names. Starting as a producer of children's shows and records, the company moved into artist management in the late 1970s, representing leading Israeli performers such as Yehudit Ravitz, Gidi Gov, Gary Eckstein, and the bands Benzin and Tislam. It also produced large-scale concerts and brought international artists like Mercedes Sosa to Israel. With the launch of commercial television in Israel in 1991, Tedy shifted its focus to television and became a central producer in the Israeli market. It produced the stand-up comedy evenings that became the hit TV show "HaKomdi Store" and went on to create some of the country's most successful and enduring programs. Among its best-known titles are the sitcom "Shemesh," the youth series "HaShminiya," the telenovela "HaShir Shelanu," the children's comedy "HaPijamot," and the singing competition "Kochav Nolad" (A Star Is Born). In 2013 Tedy launched the singing format "HaKochav HaBa" (Rising Star), which was sold to around 25 countries, including an Arabic-language version. The company also produced "Euphoria," a drama series sold to HBO, and "Yeled Ra," sold to Netflix in its Israeli version. Tedy's programs air across all major Israeli platforms, primarily Keshet, as well as yes, HOT, the Children's Channel, and Reshet. In September 2026, control of the company passed from the Yardeni family to Yoav Tzafir. Tedy continues to develop and produce original formats in entertainment, music, drama, sitcoms, and quality children's and youth programming, maintaining its position as one of Israel's most influential media houses.

History

Tedy Productions was founded in 1973 by Tamira and Dudu Yardeni; the company name is an acronym of their first names. It began by producing children's shows and records, including 'Dudi Simcha' (1977), 'The Bee Maya' (1978), and 'Kishkashta Hosts' (1979). In the late 1970s, following the success of a show it produced for Gary Eckstein, the company began representing many artists, among them Yehudit Ravitz, Korin Allal, Si Heiman, the band Benzin, Haim Tzinovitch, and Yigal Bashan. In the early 1990s, Tedy produced stand-up comedy marathons and 'HaKomdi Store' evenings at the America–Zionist House. When Channel 2 launched, these shows became a highly successful television program. Over the years the company produced numerous television programs that were almost all major successes, including 'Shemesh,' 'Lo Nafsik LaShir – Kochav Nolad,' 'HaPijamot,' 'HaShir Shelanu,' 'HaShminiya,' and 'Nolad LiRkod.' Its most successful and identifying show is 'Kochav Nolad' (A Star Is Born), for which Tedy is the main producer and acts as agent for most of the stars it launched. In 2000, together with Eyal B, it established 'Studio Eyal B' in Yishgav, and later founded the Dubi Dub studios. In 2007, in partnership with Internet Gold, it launched Tedy.tv, an internet television venture showing many of its programs, though the project ceased after a few months. In 2013, at the initiative of Yoav Tzafir, Tedy launched a new singing competition format called 'HaKochav HaBa' (Rising Star), which was sold to about 25 countries, including a version broadcast to the Arab world. In November 2017, the channel 'Tedy – Kta'im Po,' produced by the company, began broadcasting on Channel 15 for Partner TV customers; from April 10, 2019 it also aired on HOT and NEXT TV on channel 70, and from April 30, 2019 on channel 10. In September 2026, control of the company passed from the Yardeni family to Yoav Tzafir.
