Overview
TCB Beteiligungsgesellschaft, commonly known as TCB or TCB Beverages, is a German brewing group founded in 2003. Its headquarters were initially in Berlin, home city of its two managing directors, and later moved to Frankfurt (Oder). The group owns four breweries: Frankfurter Brauhaus in Frankfurt (Oder), Feldschlößchen in Dresden and Gilde in Hanover, all in Germany, plus Brasserie de Champigneulles in France. Combined production capacity of the four sites is around 10 million hectolitres. TCB Beverages GmbH is the commercial arm of the group, handling sales and marketing for the four breweries. The company describes itself as the largest private-label beer producer in Europe, supplying personalised beer products packaged to customer requirements. Alongside private-label production, TCB owns and markets its own brands, including Feldschlößchen, Frankfurter Brauhaus, Gilde and Champigneulles, as well as Askania and Bärenheim. The group's growth has come largely through acquisitions. It was founded in 2003 with the purchase of Frankfurter Brauhaus. In 2006 it acquired Brasserie de Champigneulles from Brasseries Kronenbourg. In 2011 it bought Feldschlößchen in Dresden from the Carlsberg group, pushing total production above 7 million hectolitres. In 2015 it acquired Gilde in Hanover from Anheuser-Busch InBev. TCB produces both branded beers and retailer own-brand beers for the grocery trade; in 2012 Brasserie de Champigneulles relaunched the Champigneulles beer brand in France with Panaché, Bière d'abbaye and Grande Blonde variants. The group operates modern production facilities. The Frankfurt (Oder) site, acquired in 2003, received extensive modernisation investment and today runs three PET lines, one returnable-glass bottling line, one can filling line and one keg filling line, with capacity of up to 3 million hectolitres. Champigneulles, the oldest active brewery in France, has been a byword for quality since 1897 and can produce more than 4 million hectolitres with three glass bottling lines and three can filling lines. The Dresden brewery, part of the group since 2011, brews Pilsner, Hefeweizen, Export, Alkoholfrei, Urbock, Radler and Schwarzbier. TCB's beers are sold in glass bottles, PET bottles, cans and kegs, and the group also offers export and storage services.
History
TCB was founded in 2003 and acquired the Frankfurter Brauhaus brewery in Frankfurt (Oder). Extensive investment in modernisation of that site took place as early as 2003. The group's headquarters were initially in Berlin, the home city of its two managing directors, and later moved to Frankfurt (Oder). In 2006, Brasseries Kronenbourg sold the Brasserie de Champigneulles, located near Nancy in France, to TCB. Champigneulles is the oldest active brewery in France and has been a synonym for quality since 1897. Today, in addition to its own brand, numerous beer specialities are brewed there and sold to supermarket chains and well-known retail brands across Europe. In 2011, TCB acquired the Feldschlößchen brewery in Dresden from the Carlsberg group. The Dresden site has a long brewing tradition and produces top-class quality beers such as Pilsner, Hefeweizen, Export, Alkoholfrei, Urbock, Radler and Schwarzbier. Following this acquisition, the group's total production exceeded 7 million hectolitres. In 2015, TCB acquired the Gilde brewery in Hanover from Anheuser-Busch InBev. Gilde was originally brewed in 1546 and has deep roots in German history; it is brewed with the finest barley, hops and water, and its unique hop blend gives the beer a delicate aroma while the malt provides a distinctly crisp finish. The Broyhan Taler was the traditional currency used in Hanover at the time and the rooster became the symbol of Gilde. In 2012, Brasserie de Champigneulles relaunched the Champigneulles beer brand in France, offering variants including Panaché, Bière d'abbaye and Grande Blonde. TCB produces both its own branded beers and private-label beers for the grocery retail sector. The combined production capacity of the group's four breweries is around 10 million hectolitres. TCB Beverages GmbH is the commercial subsidiary for the four breweries, based at Lebuser Chaussee 3, 15234 Frankfurt (Oder), Germany.
