History
TBN Rossiya was founded in early 1999 in Saint Petersburg by a group of enthusiasts led by Igor Yuryevich Nikitin, who claimed to have received a revelation from God to create a channel that would serve as an answer to prayers and support people in difficult times. The founding team included director Boris Krylov, Natalya Kursheva (head of the educational media center at the Higher School of Printing and Media Technologies, senior lecturer at the Department of Journalism and Media Technologies of SPbSUPTD), Valentina Chervinskaya (head of the department at the Institute of Information Technologies of SPbSUT), and other media technology specialists. They shared a clear understanding that society needed an alternative television channel broadcasting positivity, goodness, and eternal values, in contrast to most channels that aired violence and aggression 24 hours a day. SPbSUT provided premises for the young channel, and students became its first correspondents and employees. The channel was initially called "Voskresenie" (Resurrection). On November 4, 1999, programs began airing daily, and on May 15, 2000, the channel received state media registration. Igor Nikitin realized the vision of a whole group of people: TBN became a notable alternative to negative news and immorality on media screens at the time. This reflected the channel's mission, and it received a new name: "Television of Good News" (Телеканал Благих Новостей). Within about a year, TBN expanded its broadcasting to cover more than a hundred cities. Today, TBN Rossiya broadcasts in 186 countries, actively develops digital and online platforms, and engages in social and charitable projects. It collaborates with hundreds of churches and ministries worldwide and maintains interactive communication with viewers through live broadcasts and major Christian events.
