History

The Belarusian Voluntary Society for the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments was founded in 1966 as a mass public organization in the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic. Its primary mission was to mobilize public participation in the identification, study, and protection of historical and cultural monuments. Between congresses, the Republican Council served as the governing body, with a presidium as the executive organ.
