Overview

Tatsumi Publishing Co., Ltd. (辰巳出版株式会社) is a Japanese publishing house headquartered in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo. Established on November 1, 1967, in Shinjuku-ku, it traces its origins to the earlier Tatsumi Shobo, founded in 1964, from which it inherited magazines such as Camera Angle, Beauty Magazine, and Weekly Maruhi. The company publishes magazines, mooks, and books across a wide range of genres, including sports, cooking, subculture, pachinko and pachislot information, fishing, pets, puzzles, and comics. The Tatsumi Publishing Group comprises Tatsumi Publishing itself, Nittoshoin Honsha (a practical-book publisher), and Rakuten Co., Ltd. (unrelated to the Rakuten Group), which operated the bookstore "Hon no Rakuten Ina-ten" until its closure on December 31, 2016. While the company was once strongly associated with adult magazines and comics, it strengthened its practical and hobby publishing from the 2000s onward. Its current representative director and president is Kazuji Hirose. The company has a workforce of about 100 people across the group and maintains editorial offices in Osaka, Nagoya, Sendai, and Fukuoka, in addition to its Tokyo headquarters and secondary offices in Bunkyo-ku and Saitama. Its publications include long-running titles such as the fishing magazine Tsuri Joho, the pachinko magazine Pachinko Hisshobon Plus, the pachislot magazine Pachislot Hisshobon, the PC game magazine BugBug, the dog magazine Shi-Ba, and the cat magazine Nekobiyori. It also operates web media such as Hisshobon WEB-TV and Nekobiyori Plus.
