The Taiwan Insurance Institute (財團法人保險事業發展中心, referred to as 保發中心) was established in 1985 and, as of its chairman's message, has entered its 40th year. It describes itself as an insurance think tank platform combining research, professional training and policy support, with core goals of strengthening insurance professionalism and popularizing insurance knowledge. It assists the insurance industry in aligning with international frameworks such as IFRS 17 and the new insurance capital regime (TIS), works closely with regulators, and promotes sustainable insurance principles (PSI) and ESG-related training. It also organizes international forums and cooperation, including the East Asia and Pacific Insurance Forum and memoranda of understanding with international insurance bodies.
