History
Tacombi was born on the balmy beaches of the Yucatán in 2006. In 2006, in Playa del Carmen, a 1963 'combi' bus was purchased in Mexico City, driven through the Yucatan peninsula, and parked in Playa del Carmen. The engine was scrapped, transmission sold, seats swapped for cooking equipment, and the roof was reeled back to produce a taco serving stand. The first taqueria opened in a garage in downtown New York in 2010, and since then, neighborhood taquerias have opened in New York, Washington DC, and Miami. Within the taqueria walls, Tacombi started producing its own 'Vista Hermosa' tortilla products.
