Overview

TACMINA CORPORATION is a Japanese manufacturer of precision pumps and fluid control systems. Established in November 1956, the company is headquartered in Chuo-ku, Osaka, and is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard Market under security code 6322. Its product range includes Smoothflow Pumps, motor-driven and solenoid-driven metering pumps, chemical injection systems, and related accessories. The company operates subsidiaries in the United States and Korea.

History

TACMINA was founded in 1956 by Toshio Yamada, who was originally from Ikuno-cho, Asago City (formerly Asago-gun) in Hyogo Prefecture. At that time, the waterworks had not been developed in the area and infectious disease spread due to contamination of the drinking water. Mr. Yamada, who was working at a local company, thought that there must be a way to help improve the health and safety in the community and decided to set up his own business. He set up a factory at his home and started manufacturing and selling chlorine disinfection equipment. In 1965, TACMINA launched the "N-Feeder S-Type," the first electrically-powered metering pump made in Japan. This pump became the foundation of TACMINA as a manufacturer of metering pumps. At that time, the only electrically powered metering pumps available were imported, extremely expensive and hard to come by. The N-Feeder S-Type also met the needs of other emerging applications during this period, as it became necessary in pool maintenance equipment for elementary and junior high schools. TACMINA pumps became the first choice for injecting chemical solutions and chlorine disinfection equipment. TACMINA earned high praise from many respected organizations, being the first product recommended by the Japan Food Hygiene Association, the Japan Small Scale Water Works Association and the Japanese Society of School Health.
