Its head office is located on Saint-Laurent Boulevard in Montreal. Founded in 1991 by Donald Tarlton and Nick Carbone, the label became one of Quebec's leading francophone record companies during the 1990s and 2000s. Its catalogue includes France D'Amour, Kevin Parent, Jorane, Dumas, Antoine Gratton, Charles Dubé, Anik Jean, Polémil Bazar, Steve Marin, Fredric Gary Comeau, and the duo Alfa Rococo. In 2006, the label marked its fifteenth anniversary with a compilation titled Tacca Musique : compilation 15 ans, and became the first Quebec record company to launch its own digital music store, allowing the purchase of albums and songs in MP3 format. In autumn 2010, amid declining CD sales and a wave of consolidation in the Quebec record industry, Unidisc Music acquired the label. Between 2019 and 2020, vinyl reissues of catalogue albums were published. The last known release is the compilation Presque tout, Vol. 1 by Stefie Shock, released in November 2020. The label has won several Félix Awards at the ADISQ Galas. Co-founder Donald Tarlton received the Juno Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award in 2007 and the SOCAN Special Achievement Award in 2015, and has been a member of the Order of Canada since 2000.
