History

T-Tudok's legal predecessor, the TÁRKI-TUDOK Knowledge Management and Education Research Centre Zrt. (TÁRKI-TUDOK Tudásmenedzsment és Oktatáskutató Központ Zrt.), was founded on 15 November 2007. It was established by TÁRKI Zrt., a company engaged in applied social research, together with Judit Lannert, who had been director of the Research Centre of the National Institute of Public Education (Országos Közoktatási Intézet Kutatási Központja). The venture combined TÁRKI's social-science research capacity with Lannert's expertise in public education research and policy. From 5 November 2012 the company continued its activities under the name T-TUDOK Knowledge Management and Education Research Centre Zrt., with the same scope of activity and mission, now as a member of the Netvestor group. Over the years T-Tudok has built a portfolio centred on applied education research and knowledge management. Its stated mission is to help decision-makers, professionals and the education-interested public better understand processes in education and training, and to disseminate research results from its own and other Hungarian and international workshops as widely as possible. A distinctive emphasis is placed on making the knowledge it generates useful for practice, with the explicit aim of improving the effectiveness of teaching and learning. The organisation's thematic areas include education research and development, school development, support for teachers and parents, monitoring and evaluation, evaluation of European Union programmes, secondary analysis of PISA, PIAAC and OKM data, higher education, education policy, indicators, European Union affairs, social inclusion, 21st-century competences and early development. It also works through international and domestic partnerships, OECD projects, European Union projects, and networks such as the UNESCO observatories in the field of arts and cultural education, the Kölöknet network and the Creative Partnership Programme.
