Overview
Syvec Corporation (株式会社サイベックコーポレーション) is a Japanese precision metal stamping manufacturer headquartered in Shiojiri, Nagano Prefecture. Founded in October 1973 as Shinyu Kogyo Co., Ltd. (株式会社信友工業) by Kengo Hirabayashi, then aged 29, the company began as a jig machining and contract processing business with capital of 7 million yen. It was renamed Syvec Corporation in April 1991 to refresh its image as a press manufacturer. The company specializes in ultra-precision press parts and is known for its proprietary CFP (Cold Forging Progressive) technology, which enables complex three-dimensional shapes to be formed from sheet metal with high precision. Its core competence is the cold forging progressive die, a technology it pioneered in Japan. Syvec serves a wide range of industries including automotive, medical devices, and electronic equipment. Its products are used in lightweight next-generation mobility, hydrogen technology and fuel cells, and electrification applications. The company positions itself as a top manufacturer of ultra-precision press processing, offering value engineering (VE) and value analysis (VA) proposals that help customers reduce costs by converting from machining to progressive press forming. Its mission statement emphasizes total support in stamping processing, high-function, high-quality, low-cost technology, and contributing to society through innovative proposals. The company operates from a facility in the Shiojiri Alps Industrial Park, to which it relocated entirely in October 1990. Its factory is noted for its design-conscious environment, soundproof press enclosures, temperature- and humidity-controlled die workshop, and employee amenities including a gymnasium and shower rooms. Syvec has been active in exhibitions such as H2 & FC EXPO (International Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Expo) and the Human and Car Technology Exhibition in Yokohama. The company remains privately held and continues to pursue advanced technology development in stamping and cold forging.
History
Syvec Corporation was founded in October 1973 as Shinyu Kogyo Co., Ltd. (株式会社信友工業) with capital of 7 million yen, starting from jig machining and contract processing. Its founder, Kengo Hirabayashi, was 29 years old at the time and started the business amid the negative growth of the oil crisis. Despite financial difficulties, he invested in the best machinery available, including the latest wire electrical discharge machine, and devoted himself to die making. The company completed its first progressive die, and the phrase 'looking ahead' became a favorite saying of Hirabayashi. In April 1983, the company established a die parts manufacturing plant in Asahi Village, Higashichikuma District, introducing new state-of-the-art die processing equipment and focusing on temperature control to raise the level of high-precision progressive dies. In February 1985, capital was increased to 38 million yen, and in April the head office plant was relocated to Asahi Village and the press plant was expanded. It was around this time that the cold forging progressive die was born—a term rarely heard even in the industry at the time—which would develop into the company's core technology. In April 1990, capital was increased to 66 million yen, and in October the company relocated entirely to the Shiojiri Alps Industrial Park. In April 1991, the company changed its name to Syvec Corporation to refresh the image of a press company. The factory was designed with attention to detail from the entrance to every corner, with press machines enclosed in soundproof boxes, special mechanisms to absorb vibration and noise, and a die workshop with strict temperature and humidity control—a factory that Hirabayashi envisioned for the future. In February 1994, a technical center was added, based on the idea that good ideas come from a good environment. It included a gymnasium, shower rooms, and beds for relaxation, as well as a simulation room and training room used for employee technical training. In May 1994, the company obtained ISO9002 certification, reportedly the first time a small-to-medium enterprise with fewer than 50 employees received certification from JQA in Japan, which was widely covered in newspapers. In July 1994, the company entered a technical partnership with Oberg Industries of the United States. Since then, Syvec has continued to develop its proprietary CFP (Cold Forging Progressive) technology, enabling high-precision processing of complex three-dimensional shapes from sheet metal. The company has expanded into automotive, medical, electronic equipment, and hydrogen/fuel cell applications. It has exhibited at major trade shows including H2 & FC EXPO and the Human and Car Technology Exhibition. With over 50 years of experience, Syvec positions itself as a top manufacturer of ultra-precision press processing, committed to solving social issues through advanced technology and contributing to a sustainable society.
