Overview

System Alliance GmbH is a German logistics company based in Niederaula, Hesse. It operates a neutral cross-docking centre and provides logistics services for the transhipment of packaged goods, day and night. The company traces its origins to the "Elferkreis", a loose association of founding members in the 1960s, and was formally established in 1986 as System-Gut Logistik Service GmbH by eleven medium-sized German freight forwarders as an express delivery service in the groupage (less-than-truckload) sector. In 1998 it was developed into a holding company, SystemPlus Logistic Service GmbH & Co. KG, with partners from 15 European countries. In 2001, following a merger of SystemPlus with the similarly operating Fortras, it began operating under the name System Alliance in distribution and procurement logistics for groupage freight. At the beginning of 2022, the company restructured into two separate entities: NG.network GmbH, led by Stephan Opel, took over the operational network business, while System Alliance Hub Betriebsgesellschaft mbH, led by Gudrun Raabe (who had taken over management of System Alliance in 2018), became responsible for the hub operations. The original System Alliance GmbH continues to exist as a pure real estate company and owner of the property in Niederaula. At the beginning of 2023, the System Alliance network was renamed NG.network GmbH. The shareholders are Hellmann Worldwide Logistics Germany GmbH & Co. KG, Gebrüder Weiss GmbH, Streck Transportgesellschaft mbH and Friedrich Zufall GmbH & Co. KG. The central hub in Niederaula serves as the main transhipment base. The company offers cross-docking and logistics services as an open transhipment operation. It holds certifications including AEO-F (Authorised Economic Operator), HACCP for food handling, and DIN EN ISO 14001 for environmental management. According to data from the German Wikipedia, the network comprises 47 locations nationwide, 10,000 employees, 6,000 distribution vehicles, over 7.16 million national shipments and over 2.83 million tonnes of tonnage. In November 2005, System Alliance was the first cooperation to offer a "Thermo-Service" for temperature-controlled transport in the positive range (at 18 °C) for heat-sensitive non-food goods in Germany.

History

The origins of System Alliance lie in the "Elferkreis", a loose association of founding members in the 1960s. The franchise-based company "System-Gut Logistik Service GmbH" was founded in 1986 by eleven medium-sized freight forwarders as an express delivery service in the groupage sector. In 1998, it was further developed with partners from 15 European countries into the holding company "SystemPlus Logistic Service GmbH & Co. KG". System Alliance then emerged from a cooperation of the international SystemPlus with the similarly operating Fortras (Forschungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft für Transportwesen). Under the name System Alliance, it began operations at the beginning of 2001 in the fields of distribution and procurement logistics for groupage freight. In 2022, it renewed its corporate structures. Through the founding of two new companies, responsibilities were split into network and transhipment operations. In addition to the founding of the new companies, System Alliance GmbH continued to exist as a pure real estate company and owner of the property in Niederaula. System Alliance Hub Betriebsgesellschaft mbH has offered logistics services as an open transhipment operation since the spin-off took effect. At the beginning of 2023, the System Alliance network was renamed NG.network GmbH. The central main transhipment base (HUB) of the network is located in Niederaula. In November 2005, System Alliance was the first cooperation to offer a "Thermo-Service" for temperature-controlled transport in the positive range (at 18 °C) for heat-sensitive non-food goods in Germany.
