Overview

Synerise is a Polish software development company headquartered in Kraków, with an additional office in Warsaw. It develops and licenses an enterprise data and artificial-intelligence platform designed to help organizations collect, unify, interpret, and act on behavioral and transactional data. Its technology is aimed particularly at companies in retail, e-commerce, financial services, telecommunications, hospitality, media, and other sectors that need real-time customer intelligence and automated business processes. The company originated in July 2012 as Humanoit Group, a software house founded by Miłosz Baluś, Krzysztof Kochmański, and Jarosław Królewski, who had previously worked together at Kraków interactive agency Eskadra. Its early work included project-management systems, applications for educational organizations, online-survey tools, social-research products, and software for hospitality businesses. In 2013, the founders were also involved in creating FreshMail, an email-marketing platform, while Humanoit increasingly concentrated on consumer insight and data applications. A major transition came in June 2013, when the Kraków Technology Park Seed Fund invested in a new business-intelligence and big-data venture established as HG Intelligence. The company developed technology for complex customer-relationship and operational processes. A partnership with footwear and fashion company Gino Rossi led to an early retail implementation combining Bluetooth Low Energy beacons, mobile applications, point-of-sale data, and analytics. The resulting Synerise platform was intended to connect online and offline customer activity, improve marketing effectiveness, and support loyalty and sales operations. HG Intelligence joined Microsoft’s BizSpark startup-support program in 2015 and formally adopted the Synerise name on July 1, 2016. The platform became a fully commercial product in January 2017, initially serving e-commerce and marketing-measurement use cases. The company subsequently directed substantial resources toward artificial intelligence, automation, proprietary data infrastructure, and machine-learning algorithms. Its platform evolved from a marketing and customer-intelligence tool into a broader AI Growth Cloud ecosystem capable of processing large volumes of real-time behavioral events and supporting segmentation, recommendations, prediction, pricing, loyalty, and automated communications. Synerise has pursued international expansion through partnerships and offices. It opened an office in Dubai in 2019 and one in Madrid later that year, while working with customers and technology partners in Europe, the Middle East, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific. It has cooperated with organizations including Microsoft, Bank Pekao, Ernst & Young, Bain & Company, and Integrated Solutions. In 2022, it established a partnership with Seed Group to support digital-transformation activity in the United Arab Emirates. The company raised a reported $23 million round in 2022 and announced an $8.5 million Series B+ round in July 2024 led by VTEX and joined by business angels. Its research portfolio includes Cleora, an open-sourced AI algorithm for recommendation and event-prediction systems, and BaseModel, introduced in 2023 as a behavioral-modeling platform that converts raw data into behavioral profiles and personalized-offer capabilities. Synerise also develops database and data-processing technologies intended to support high-volume, low-latency analytics. Beyond commercial software, it has supported university programs, AI education initiatives, startup acceleration, healthcare registration, and Polish football club Wisła Kraków. As of April 2024, the company’s value was reported by the referenced material at approximately US$120 million, although Synerise remains privately held.

History

Synerise began in July 2012 as Humanoit Group, a Kraków software house created by Miłosz Baluś, Krzysztof Kochmański, and Jarosław Królewski. The founders had worked at the interactive agency Eskadra and initially developed varied software, including project-management tools, educational-management applications, survey systems, social-research products, and hospitality software. Their work increasingly moved toward consumer data and digital marketing; in 2013 they were involved in creating FreshMail, an email-marketing platform. In June 2013, the Kraków Technology Park Seed Fund invested in the founders’ new business-intelligence and big-data venture. HG Intelligence was established to build systems capable of supporting complex customer-relationship and operational processes. A partnership with Gino Rossi in September 2013 supplied an important retail testing ground. In February 2014, the partners launched a Polish retail initiative based on Bluetooth Low Energy. The resulting Synerise platform linked beacons, mobile applications, payment and point-of-sale information, and online activity to analyze consumer behavior and improve marketing, sales, and loyalty programs. The company’s financing and technology ecosystem expanded in the middle of the decade. Microsoft admitted HG Intelligence to its BizSpark program in December 2015, providing access to Azure cloud resources. Satus Venture also joined the Kraków Technology Park Seed Fund as an investor. On July 1, 2016, HG Intelligence changed its formal name to Synerise, following the name of its principal platform. A private financing in September 2016 was reported alongside a valuation of PLN 50 million. In January 2017, the Synerise platform became a fully commercial offering, with early applications in e-commerce and marketing measurement. From 2017 onward, Synerise emphasized proprietary artificial intelligence, autonomous-process algorithms, data storage, and automation. A transaction involving Satus Venture’s minority stake in June 2017 reportedly produced a 29-fold return and was followed by PLN 16.4 million of recapitalization. The company reported spending PLN 25 million on AI and automation development in 2018 and a further PLN 35 million on research and development in 2019. During 2018, its user base reportedly tripled, while the company broadened its focus from marketing technology toward a general real-time behavioral-data and business-automation platform. Synerise expanded beyond Poland through technology and implementation partnerships. It worked with Microsoft and customers in Spain, Greece, and Vietnam; opened in Dubai in February 2019; opened in Madrid in May 2019; and joined the EIT Digital Accelerator in June 2019. It also formed commercial relationships with Bank Pekao, Ernst & Young, Bain & Company, and Integrated Solutions. The company’s platform integrates warehouse, product-availability, loyalty, customer, e-commerce, social, mobile, and point-of-sale data. Its analytics are designed to support segmentation, scoring, recommendations, pricing, personalized communications, and automated customer journeys. The research program continued with the open-sourcing of Cleora in November 2020. Cleora is intended for recommendation and event-prediction use cases. In January 2023, Synerise introduced BaseModel, a behavioral-modeling AI platform that transforms raw data into behavioral profiles and supports personalized offers. The company has described applications across e-commerce, retail, hospitality, media, and banking. In December 2023, Simon Hay was appointed executive chairman. Synerise announced an $8.5 million Series B+ financing round in July 2024, led by VTEX and joined by business angels. The referenced material also reports a company value of approximately US$120 million as of April 2024. Synerise has maintained links with education and public-interest initiatives. It has cooperated with AGH University of Krakow, helped establish postgraduate programs, and worked with Poznań University of Economics and Business on doctoral studies in data science. Its AI Schools & Academy program, launched in 2018 with corporate sponsors, sought to expand AI education for school-age learners. The company has also supported the Polish football club Wisła Kraków, whose president and co-owner is co-founder Jarosław Królewski, and provided a platform for preventive-breast-screening registration at the Białystok Oncology Center.
