Overview

pädiatrie schweiz is the professional organization for all paediatricians in Switzerland and the competent voice of child and adolescent health, since 1901. It is the official specialist society in child and adolescent medicine recognized by the FMH. Its mission is oriented toward the welfare of children in Switzerland, requiring high-quality child and adolescent medicine: high-level further training for the specialist title, forward-looking continuing education after obtaining the specialist title, appropriate paediatric care, effective health prevention, and good legal framework conditions. The society serves all prospective and practising paediatricians in children's hospitals and paediatric practices in German-speaking Switzerland, Romandie, and Ticino — in short, it serves paediatrics throughout Switzerland as the only organization to do so. It is the most important contact for political authorities and media on matters of child welfare, with expert commissions and working groups providing specialist knowledge to support fact-based decision-making. Its tasks include tariff negotiations, representation within the FMH, member networking, and networking with other organizations.
