Overview

Swiss Label is the association for the promotion of Swiss products and services. It offers companies the opportunity to mark their products and services with the crossbow label, thereby establishing a connection to Switzerland. Members produce their products and services exclusively in Switzerland to specified percentage shares, and Swiss Label conducts annual quality assurance to ensure compliance with Swiss quality standards. The association was founded in 1917 and has over 1000 member companies from across Switzerland. Its crossbow trademark is legally protected in 24 export countries.

History

Swiss Label traces its origins to 1917, when the Verband Schweizer Woche was founded with the crossbow as its symbol. In 1972, it merged with the Zentralstelle für das schweizerische Ursprungszeichen to form Armbrust-Schweizerwoche. The association was renamed Swiss Label in 1989. Toward the end of the 20th century, membership declined to around 100, threatening its existence. Bruno Zuppiger, a former National Councillor, took over the presidency in 2003 and the management was transferred to the Swiss Trade Association (sgv), after which Swiss Label recovered. Its 100th anniversary was celebrated in 2017.

Products and positioning

Swiss Label positions itself as a promoter of Swiss quality, tradition, and reliability, using the crossbow as its symbol to denote Swiss origin and quality.
