Sweet Protection is a Norwegian brand that blends industry-leading innovation with craftsmanship to create helmets, eyewear, protective gear and apparel. The brand's story traces back to 1986 in Trysil, Norway, when a group of friends began building skateboards, and later moved into designing outdoor gear and helmets. Today it offers products such as the Falconer Aero 2Vi® Mips helmet, the Viz Collection of reflective-detailed helmets, and RIG® Reflect eyewear.

The Sweet Protection story begins in 1986 in Trysil, a mountain village in Østerdalen, Norway. After watching the skateboard drama Thrashin', a crew of friends became hooked on skateboarding, which was then illegal in Norway, so they smuggled hardware, wheels and mags across the border from Sweden. They built their own boards under the name Bushmade Skateboards, testing them on a homemade halfpipe hidden in the forest and fine-tuning them in Ståle Møller's father's garage. When the ban on skateboarding was lifted in 1989, they could finally skate in public. The crew also began designing outdoor gear and building helmets, driven by frustration that existing gear was holding them back. The 'Stronger. Lighter. Better.' mantra traces back to a 1988 school paper by Ståle Møller, inspired by California's board culture. In 1997, freestyle kayaking appears in the story. Sweet Protection is based in Norway and was founded by a tight-knit group of skiers, riders, cyclists and paddlers looking to make the best helmets and apparel available.
