Swanndri

Swanndri is a New Zealand outdoor clothing brand. Its name was devised by William Broome, who designed the brand to keep rural New Zealanders comfortable in changing weather. Broome's first offering was the original short-sleeved woollen bush shirt, sold as one size fits all. On December 23rd, 1913, he trademarked what the brand describes as New Zealand's most iconic outerwear brand. The brand states it has been providing outdoor enthusiasts with gear for over a century. Its current collections include men's, women's and kids' clothing, accessories, classic work shirts, windproof gear and oilskin classics, and it also operates an outlet and a blog.

The liquid formula used to treat early Swanndri garments has been the subject of speculation; the best guess is that Broome, a tailor by trade, brought it with him when he migrated from the UK to New Zealand at 21 years of age. On December 23rd, 1913, Broome trademarked what the brand calls New Zealand's most iconic outerwear brand. In 1927, a tailor named John McKendrick added to the brand's story. The brand states that for over a century it has been providing outdoor enthusiasts with gear.
