Overview

Sunrise Corporation is a Japanese manufacturer of sealants and adhesives, operating in three business fields: construction, industry, and optics. It is a member of the Konishi Group, known for its 'Bond' woodworking adhesive, and became a consolidated subsidiary of Konishi Co., Ltd. in 2003. The company was established in 1967 and is headquartered in Osaka.

History

Sunrise Corporation was established on November 27, 1967, when the chemical products division of Meisei Kogyo Co., Ltd. was spun off to form Meisei Churchill Co., Ltd. for a technical partnership with the U.S. company Churchill Chemical. In 1972, the joint venture and technical partnership with Churchill Chemical were amicably dissolved. The company changed its name to Sunrise Meisei Co., Ltd. in 1984, then to Sunrise M.S.I. Co., Ltd. in 1994, and finally to Sunrise Corporation in 2018. In 2003, shares held by Meisei Kogyo Co., Ltd. were transferred to Konishi Co., Ltd., making Sunrise a consolidated subsidiary of Konishi. The company has also established overseas entities, including Kayo Fine Chemical (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. in China in 2004 and Kony Sunrise Trading Co., Ltd. in Thailand in 2005, both joint investments with Konishi Co., Ltd.
