Overview

Sun Station Terrace Fukuyama (さんすて福山) is a station-front shopping center located under the elevated railway tracks of JR West's Fukuyama Station in Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by Sanyo SC Development Co., Ltd. (山陽SC開発株式会社), a JR West Group company headquartered in Okayama. The facility opened in 1975 as Fukuyama Sun Talk (福山サントーク) alongside the elevation of the station tracks, and a second section, Sun Talk 2nd Avenue, opened in 1978. After seismic reinforcement work on the elevated structure, it was fully renovated and reopened under its current name on November 1, 2007. The center is organized around the north-south connecting passage, with the Main Building (本館) on the east side and 2nd Avenue (2番街) on the west side. It houses a mix of fashion and miscellaneous goods, souvenirs, sweets and deli, restaurants and cafes, lifestyle goods, and beauty and service tenants. Notable tenants have included McDonald's, UCC Cafe Plaza, Matsumoto Kiyoshi, Can Do, Hirobunkan Bookstore, and ABC Cooking Studio in the Main Building, and Doutor Coffee in 2nd Avenue. The 2nd Avenue area also includes DASH Fukuyama Ekimae, an off-track betting facility for the Hyogo Prefectural Racing Association and JRA central racing. The center is directly accessible from the JR Fukuyama Station ticket gates and offers affiliated parking. Since 2019, it has progressively expanded electronic money and cashless payment options, including ICOCA, Suica, TOICA and other interoperable transit IC cards, major credit cards, PiTaPa, iD, QUICPay, WAON, Rakuten Edy, nanaco, and code payments such as PayPay at many stores. In 2023, the Okayama Ichibangai / Sun Station members card was introduced, and in 2025 new issuance of the plastic members card for Sun Station Terrace Fukuyama ended.

History
