SUN – Stadtwerke Union Nordhessen

The Stadtwerke Union Nordhessen (SUN) is a union of seven municipal utilities (Stadtwerke) in the North Hesse region. According to its website, it works toward environmentally friendly, regional and affordable energy supply, and develops joint renewable-energy solutions with its partners, municipalities, energy cooperatives and local research experts. Since its founding in 2011, SUN states that the renewable power plants already built and planned up to 2019 generate as much clean electricity as the households in the entire supply area of the SUN municipal utilities consume. Its first joint project, in 2012, involved more than 30 charging points with uniform charging infrastructure and a shared charging card, making SUN one of the pioneers of electric mobility in the region.
