History

Streck Transport was founded on 1 August 1946 by Karl Streck as a forwarding business; the commercial register entry followed on 18 October 1948. In 1958, the company began importing and distributing flowers, and in 1962 it opened a branch in Freiburg im Breisgau. In 1963, it took its first step into Switzerland with the founding of a Basel location, and in 1977 it moved into its current Swiss headquarters in Möhlin, Canton Aargau. In 1976, Streck was one of the founding companies of DPD Germany (then Deutscher Paketdienst). In 1986, it was a founding member of SystemGut GmbH (now System Alliance), a network of medium-sized German logistics service providers. In 1993, the company was first certified according to the quality management standard DIN ISO 9002. In 1998, founder Karl Streck died; already in 1996, Herbert Boll had been appointed as his successor to head the company group. Under his leadership, the company expanded steadily: in 1999, for example, the high-bay warehouse in the Hochdorf industrial area at the Freiburg location was expanded; the air freight business was also expanded, including the opening of branches at the airports of Frankfurt, Munich, Hamburg, Zurich, and Stuttgart. In 2003, a high-bay warehouse was opened at the Swiss location in Möhlin, and in 2010 a freight X-ray system was put into operation in Freiburg, where a state-of-the-art logistics facility was also commissioned in 2012. After the Möhlin logistics center moved into newly built premises in 2015, Herbert Boll handed over the chairmanship of the management board to Bernd Schäfer in 2017. On 1 June 2023, Streck Transport took over the groupage business of Spedition Fecht in Meßkirch, further expanding its market presence in southern Baden-Württemberg. As of 2023, Streck Transport is the market leader for transport and logistics services in the tri-border region of Germany, France, and Switzerland, with around 1.61 million shipments annually and a fleet of around 460 long-distance and area vehicles, but it is not only regionally active; it is globally connected through cooperations. The company, which recorded a group turnover of 325 million euros in 2023, also offers additional services such as customs clearance, dangerous goods transport, logistics consulting, and supply chain management.
