Stiftung Zukunft Berlin

Stiftung Zukunft Berlin (SZB) describes itself as a place of exchange and reflection on future solutions, acting as a driving force, balancing forum and committed source of impulses. Around 580 personalities from the city society engage in 30 different initiatives and projects within the SZB. Its work focuses on three main areas: major topics of the city discussed in the Berlin-Forum, engagement for comprehensive cooperation between Berlin and Brandenburg, and engagement for Europe as an overarching frame of reference for the metropolis of Berlin. Thematically it deals with questions of common-good-oriented and sustainable future development, and advocates strengthening social cohesion and liberal democracy across generations. It is a member of the Verein der Berliner Stiftungen e.V. and, together with the Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen, helped build the Berliner Stiftungswoche.

Stiftung Zukunft Berlin is a member of the Verein der Berliner Stiftungen e.V. and has historically been closely connected to that network. Together with the Bundesverband Deutscher Stiftungen, it built up the Berliner Stiftungswoche within the framework of the Berliner Stiftungsrunde; this annual cooperation project has made the diversity and significance of foundation engagement in the capital visible for more than a decade. In the early years, Stiftung Zukunft Berlin itself was the project sponsor of the Stiftungswoche before handing responsibility to an external project office. Since 2025, the newly founded Verein der Berliner Stiftungen e.V. continues the Stiftungswoche and other joint activities. As a member, the foundation continues to contribute its experience to the network.

A civil-society foundation acting as a forum and impulse-giver for future-oriented dialogue with political decision-makers.
